Welcome to Mangerie Online, your online kaleidoscope!

Your browser's local storage says that this is your first time playing, so please enjoy a short tutorial where you will learn how to operate a kaleidoscope.

If you need to review these instructions, you can restart this tutorial at any time with the button shaped like a question mark.

How to switch images in the kaleidoscope

The kaleidoscope starts from a base image which is reflected into symmetrical patterns.
You can circle through images by using the large, outside arrow controls. Alternatively, you can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard.

A short description of the image pops up when the switch is complete. Simply start interacting with the kaleidoscope to close this description.
Switching images always resets image rotation and number of reflections.

How to angle the kaleidoscope mirrors

Next, start pulling on the large circular lever to reveal the kaleidoscopic splendour of an image.
The farther the lever is pulled, the sharper the angle of the kaleidoscope's internal mirrors, i.e. more facets being combined into a new image.

Tip: pull hard enough on the lever. You need to pass a certain treshold of force to get the kaleidoscope's mirrors to flip positions! As a shortcut, you can also use the mouse wheel to interact with the lever. This way the lever is always flipped into a valid position.

How to rotate the kaleidoscope image

Finally, you can rotate the base image to bring out some truly unpredictable combinations! Do this by tugging on the arrowed lever. Dragging the edge of the circle will work as well.

Have fun, and don't forget to have a look at the other image albums available in the main menu. Memories are precious after all!
